A Brief Introduction

Beacon, by Ray MajoranWelcome to Your Breath in Me, a site showcasing the creativity and workmanship of God. Everywhere I go, everywhere I look—there’s God, showing off again. I am thankful for the opportunity that He’s given me to capture His creation through the lens; I don’t take it lightly.

My Photography

All of my photography can be found on Compassion Gallery, a collaborative effort between myself and long time friend, Brian Klassen. Thanks for your support!

Camera Equipment & Processing

Sometimes I get asked what camera equipment and processing software I use. Back in 2016, I switched from Canon and moved over to Nikon. (You can read about that here.) My primary camera body and main lenses include:

  • Nikon D850 / Nikon D810 (backup)
  • di-GPS Eco ProFessional M
  • Nikon 50mm AF-S NIKKOR f/1.4G
  • Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 AF-S G
  • Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E ED AF-S NIKKOR VR
  • Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II w/ TC-20E III 2x Conveter

I also use a few different tripods and a panoramic heads for multi-image landscape stitching. For software, I process over 99% of my images using Adobe Lightroom. Every once in awhile, I'll use Photoshop as well for advanced techniques like focus stacking or perspective blending.

More About this Website

The reason I named the site Your Breath in Me is because without God, I am lifeless. (Job 33:4) I find it absolutely impossible to look through the lens of a camera and think to myself, “Wow… that happened by chance!” Instead, I am in left in awe of the people He’s created, the skies He formed, the grass He grows, the planets He’s molded, the earth He moves.

Romans 1:20 (ESV) says, “For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—His eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” King David resolved that, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” (Psalm 14:1) I believe both of these statements to be true. God is who He says He is. And since we can see His workmanship and glory all around us, we are without excuse.

In John 3:30 when John is talking about Jesus, he says, “He (Jesus) must become greater; I must become less.” Personally speaking, it’s my desire to live this verse out on daily basis. Sometimes I do okay, sometimes I fail horribly. Thankfully, He provides immeasurable grace.  How can I give God the glory for all things without getting in the way of myself? That is the ongoing question. To me, photography is one tool that God has given us to showcase His work; and we don’t deserve any of the credit for it. More of Him. Less of me.

So here goes nothing. Lord Jesus, thank you for giving me breath. May it be used for Your purposes and for Your glory.

In Christ,

Ray Majoran
